Fatal Trailer Accident Throws Gombe Into Mourning

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has expressed deep sorrow over the fatal road accident involving a trailer loaded with bags of grains at New Mile 3 in Gombe State, which claimed several lives and left many others injured.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Director-General of Press Affairs, Ismaila Uba Misilli, the governor described the incident as heartbreaking and unfortunate, especially with reports confirming the death of a police officer alongside other victims.

The accident also reportedly led to the destruction of public property and goods, causing panic and disruption around the area.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya extended his condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones and prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased.

He also sympathised with those injured in the crash and prayed for their speedy recovery.

The governor commended security personnel, emergency responders and relevant agencies for their swift intervention in managing the situation and carrying out rescue and assessment operations at the scene.

While reacting to the tragedy, Governor Inuwa Yahaya urged motorists, particularly drivers of heavy-duty vehicles, to strictly obey traffic regulations and safety measures to prevent avoidable road accidents.

He further assured residents that his administration would continue supporting initiatives aimed at protecting lives and improving road safety across Gombe State.
