Álvaro Arbeloa has challenged Kylian Mbappé to prove his commitment to Real Madrid during the club’s final three matches of the season.
Mbappé has come under pressure from sections of Madrid fans after travelling to Sardinia while recovering from a thigh injury. The French forward also missed Sunday’s El Clásico defeat to FC Barcelona, a result that confirmed Barcelona as La Liga champions and left Madrid without a trophy this season.
Speaking ahead of Thursday’s league clash with Real Oviedo, Arbeloa said Mbappé could still feature if he proves his fitness in training.
“If he’s available, he’ll get minutes and the chance to continue showing his commitment to the club,” Arbeloa told reporters.
The Madrid coach backed the France captain, insisting he believes all his players give everything for the club despite criticism from supporters. Mbappé, Madrid’s top scorer this season, could face a mixed reception from fans at the Santiago Bernabéu if he returns to action.
