Saidu Denies Disrespecting Speaker Tajudeen Abbas

A young man identified as Saidu has explained the circumstances surrounding the recent incident involving the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, saying his actions were driven by desperation over his medical condition.

According to Saidu, he has been battling a fractured hand but was forced to suspend treatment after his family could no longer afford the medical expenses following the end of earlier support.

He said he attended an event where Speaker Abbas was present in the hope of personally seeking assistance. Saidu explained that he attempted to approach the Speaker by holding his gown and showing his injured hand before security operatives intervened and dragged him away.

The young man stressed that he never intended to disrespect or embarrass the Speaker, describing himself as one of Abbas’ supporters who admires his humanitarian contributions.

He expressed regret over the incident and clarified that his actions were motivated solely by his need for medical help.

Saidu’s father also tendered an apology to the Speaker, claiming that political opponents had misrepresented the incident for propaganda purposes.

He explained that the family had struggled for more than two years to finance treatment at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital and the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital.

Despite the incident, Saidu’s father commended Speaker Abbas for agreeing to take over the medical expenses required for his son’s treatment.
