The 12th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, AMVCA, brought glamour, celebration, and emotional moments to Lagos over the weekend as some of Africa’s biggest stars gathered at Eko Hotels and Suites.
The award ceremony celebrated outstanding achievements in film, television, and digital content across the continent. Celebrities arrived in stunning outfits, while fans online followed every major moment from the red carpet to the award presentations.
One of the biggest winners of the night was My Father’s Shadow, which secured multiple awards including Best Movie and Best Director for filmmaker Akinola Davies Jr. Actress Linda Ejiofor also became one of the standout stars after winning two major acting awards.
Actor Bucci Franklin delivered one of the most emotional moments of the night after winning Best Supporting Actor for To Kill a Monkey. The actor revealed that he lost his mother shortly before filming the movie, making the award deeply personal.
Veteran Nollywood stars Sola Sobowale and Kanayo O. Kanayo also received special recognition for their long contributions to the Nigerian film industry. Their awards earned standing ovations from guests and fellow actors.
Beyond the awards, the AMVCA once again showed the growth of African storytelling and the increasing global attention on Nollywood and African cinema.
