Tensions between the United States and Iran have intensified after the U.S. Central Command confirmed that an American F/A-18 Super Hornet struck two Iranian tankers in the Strait of Hormuz.

The incident followed new clashes at sea between US and Iranian forces. Both sides exchanged accusations over attacks near the Strait of Hormuz. Iran said US vessels targeted one of its tankers. The US said it acted to protect its ships

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Washington is waiting for Iran’s response to a new peace proposal. The plan was delivered through Pakistani mediators. It aims to extend the ceasefire and restart talks.

Iran’s foreign ministry said it is still reviewing the proposal. Officials have not given a final answer. Both sides continue to blame each other for recent violence in the region.

The Strait of Hormuz remains a key global oil route. Shipping has slowed due to rising security risks. Tanker movement in the area has become more restricted.

Saudi Arabia reportedly refused US requests to use its airspace or bases for military operations. The kingdom warned that escalation could worsen the crisis. Global markets reacted with concern as traders feared disruptions to oil supply and trade routes.
