The Senate confirms Lamido Yuguda as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria. Lawmakers approve his nomination after reviewing a report from the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions.
The committee clears him during screening. It confirms that he meets all requirements under the CBN Act. Senators say he has no pending petitions.
During the Senate session, lawmakers praise Yuguda for his experience in financial regulation and monetary policy. Some senators describe him as a “square peg in a square hole. They say he fits the role well.
Danjuma Goje supports the motion. He also praises President Bola Tinubu for the nomination.
Bola Tinubu selects Yuguda for the position, and lawmakers welcome the choice.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio then puts the nomination to a voice vote. Lawmakers approve it with strong support.
The Senate committee does not subject Yuguda to detailed questioning. Senators say he already has strong experience. They refer to his past roles in financial institutions and regulatory bodies.
Yuguda’s confirmation is expected to strengthen leadership at the Central Bank of Nigeria. It may also support efforts to stabilize monetary policy and improve financial governance in the country.
