The Supreme Court of Nigeria has granted an application for accelerated hearing in an appeal filed by the Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The application was moved by counsel to the appellants, Chris Uche, SAN.
The apex court directed respondents to file their responses within five days.
It subsequently fixed April 22, 2026, for the hearing of the main appeal.
Turaki-led faction is challenging earlier court decisions on the party’s convention.

Specifically, it is asking the Supreme Court to set aside rulings of the lower courts.
The Court of Appeal of Nigeria had upheld a ruling of the Federal High Court.
That ruling stopped the PDP National Convention scheduled for November 2025 in Ibadan.
The appellants argue that the courts lacked jurisdiction over the matter.
They insist that internal party affairs should not be subject to judicial interference.
The outcome of the appeal could have significant implications for the party.
It may also shape legal interpretations of party autonomy in Nigeria.
