A legal dispute involving prominent Islamic cleric, Ahmad Abubakar Gumi, has surfaced at the Sharia Court of Kaduna State.

Nasiru Musa Idris filed the case over alleged denial of access to his wife.

Court documents show the case is filed under Case No. 026/2026.

The complainant is seeking a criminal summons against Sheikh Gumi and five others.

Those named include Amal Elouakili and Mahmud Ahmad Gumi.

Nasiru Musa Idris claims he is the lawful husband of Khadijah Diab under Islamic law.

He said the incident began on September 16, 2025.

According to him, he received a request to bring his wife for “Nasiha” (religious counseling) at Sheikh Gumi’s residence.

He agreed and took her there in good faith.

However, he alleged that he was later persuaded to leave her behind.

Since then, he claims the defendants have denied him access to his wife.

He also alleged that they prevented her return to their matrimonial home.

The complainant accused the defendants of making unlawful demands when he tried to retrieve his wife.

He also claimed they interfered with his marital rights.

In addition, he alleged that they accompanied his wife to remove her belongings without his consent.

The complainant argued that these actions amount to several offences.

These include criminal conspiracy, wrongful restraint, and confinement.

Other allegations include criminal trespass and interference with marital rights under the Sharia Penal Code of Kaduna State.

A legal practitioner confirmed that the case is still before the court.

He said all parties must follow due legal process.

The Sharia Court in Kaduna has fixed April 14, 2026, for further hearing.

The court will consider the application for criminal summons.
