EFCC Arrests Woman for Alleged Naira Mutilation in Maiduguri

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested a woman in Maiduguri over alleged Naira mutilation.

Operatives from the Maiduguri Zonal Directorate arrested Fatima Muhammed on Tuesday, April 7.

Authorities traced the suspect after a viral TikTok video surfaced online.

The video showed her using a ₦500 note to clean mucus from her nose.

EFCC operatives identified and arrested her within the Maiduguri metropolis.

The Commission has placed the suspect under investigation at its Maiduguri facility.

Officials said they will complete investigations before taking further legal action.

The EFCC confirmed that it will charge the suspect to court after concluding its investigation.

The agency continues to warn against the abuse and mutilation of the Naira.
