Gombe State University has inducted 4,258 students into its academic programmes for the 2025/2026 session. The event marks an important milestone in the institution’s academic calendar.
The matriculation ceremony took place on Monday at the University’s Convocation Square. It officially welcomed the new students into the university community. It also marked the beginning of their academic journey.
In his opening remarks, the Registrar, Dr. Abubakar Ali Bafeto, welcomed the students warmly. He urged them to remain focused and take their studies seriously. He also encouraged them to make the most of the opportunities ahead.
Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sani Ahmed Yauta, congratulated the students on their admission. He stressed the importance of discipline and strict adherence to university rules. According to him, university education goes beyond academics. It also involves character building, integrity, and social responsibility.
In addition, several orientation lectures were delivered during the ceremony. Prof. Rasheed Abdulganiy spoke on the need to follow the university’s code of conduct. Similarly, Prof. Isaac Ediba and Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim emphasized religious harmony and peaceful coexistence on campus.
Furthermore, other speakers addressed key aspects of student life. Lt. Cmdr. Jafaru Kamara spoke on campus security. Dr. Bunu and Dr. Henry Maina Abareh discussed health awareness and student welfare. QS Murtala Salisu highlighted the proper use of university facilities. Representatives of the NDLEA also warned students about the dangers of drug abuse.
Finally, the university delivered a strong message to the new students. They were urged to remain disciplined, promote unity, and strive for academic excellence throughout their studies.
With this formal induction, the 4,258 students are now recognized as full members of the Gombe State University community.
