Peter Obi has issued a scathing rebuke following a violent raid on the African Democratic Congress (ADC) secretariat launch in Bakassi, Cross River State.

On Saturday, suspected political thugs stormed the venue, dispersing supporters and destroying equipment. Obi described the incident as a direct “assault on democracy itself.”

In a statement shared via X, the former presidential candidate warned that this disruption is a symptom of a “dangerously low” collapse in Nigeria’s democratic standards.

He emphasized that the attack was not merely a strike against a rival party, but a threat to the nation’s foundational stability.

When thugs can storm a party office and destroy property without facing arrest, it reflects how far we have fallen,” Obi stated. He further linked this physical violence to a broader culture of political fraud,

cautioning that the tolerance of forged certificates and leadership misconduct sends a troubling message to society.
