The human rights advocate IG Wala has accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of targeting opposition leaders instead of addressing national security threats.
In a statement, Wala said:
“Malami and Nasir are kept by Tinubu, nothing more. He only knows how to target opposition members. He doesn’t know how to target terrorists and bandits.”

Wala’s comments reflect concerns over ongoing attacks by armed groups in northern Nigeria, including kidnappings and raids in Zamfara, Kaduna, and Sokoto states.
Political analysts say public frustration is growing as insecurity persists while political figures are detained.
The Presidency has said operations against political figures and security threats are separate. It also assured Nigerians that security remains a top priority.
Opposition parties have criticised the administration, saying detaining political figures while insecurity rises affects public trust.
Wala called on Nigerians to monitor government actions and urged that leadership focus equally on security and governance.
