Ahmad Uthman Muhammad has announced a transport support initiative for students of Modibbo Adama University Yola following complaints about rising transport fares.
The initiative will provide free tricycle (Keke) rides for students during the last ten days of Ramadan.
Muhammad said he received several complaints from students who struggle to afford transport between the university and the city.

According to him, the situation has become more difficult during Ramadan, when many students are fasting while managing academic activities.
To address the issue, he engaged 20 tricycle riders who will offer free rides for students.
The free transport service will operate on two routes daily.
Morning schedule
• Yola Market → Jimeta: 7:00 AM – 10:00 AM
• Mubi Roundabout → MAUTECH: 7:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Afternoon and evening schedule
• MAUTECH → Mubi Roundabout: 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM
• Mubi Roundabout → Yola Market: 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Students must present their student identification cards before boarding the tricycles.
Muhammad said the initiative aims to reduce stress for students during the fasting period.
He added that students should focus on their education rather than worry about transport costs.
“Students are the future of our society. During Ramadan, they deserve support and encouragement,” he said.
He also urged community leaders to listen to the concerns of young people and respond with practical solutions.
