Zulum Empowers Borno Youths with Starter Packs

Babagana Umara Zulum has empowered 2,970 young people after they completed vocational training across Borno State.

He presented starter packs and business kits valued at over ₦2.05 billion.

The empowerment ceremony took place at the Muna Vocational Enterprises Institute in Maiduguri.

The items will help beneficiaries start their own businesses immediately.

Officials selected the graduates from nine modern vocational institutes built under the Zulum administration.

The centres offer practical training in information technology, plumbing, construction, tailoring, welding, and other skilled trades.

Governor Zulum said youth empowerment remains a top priority of his administration.

He explained that years of insurgency damaged communities and destroyed livelihoods.

The crisis increased unemployment and left many young people struggling.

He said the government introduced sustainable programmes to restore dignity and create opportunities.

Expanding Skills and Economic Recovery

Governor Zulum noted that since 2019, his administration has built five major vocational enterprise institutes and several smaller centres.

He described the graduation as a proud moment for the state.

The initiative forms part of broader efforts to rebuild the economy, reduce youth restiveness, and promote long-term stability in communities recovering from conflict.
