The African Union Commission has expressed deep concern over recent military strikes carried out by the United States, alongside Israeli forces, inside Iran.
African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf said the action marks a dangerous escalation in Middle East hostilities.
He warned that rising tensions between the United States and the Iran threaten international peace and stability.

The Chairperson called for restraint and immediate de-escalation by all parties involved.
He stressed that all actions must comply with international law and the United Nations Charter.
According to him, further escalation could deepen global instability and worsen existing economic pressures.
He noted that Africa remains especially vulnerable to shocks affecting energy markets, food security, and economic resilience.
The AU Chairperson urged actors to prioritise diplomacy over military force.
He specifically welcomed ongoing mediation efforts led by the Oman, calling them critical to easing tensions.
He reaffirmed that lasting peace can only emerge through dialogue, not violence.
The African Union, he said, remains committed to supporting peaceful solutions and a rules-based international order.
