Renowned African scholar, PLO Lumumba, has said that Africa is suffering because its people often elect the wrong leaders.

Prof Lumumba made this statement while speaking on the state of leadership on the continent. He explained that Africa has great resources, intelligent people, and strong potential, but poor leadership continues to hold it back.

According to him, the biggest challenge facing many African countries is not a lack of wealth, but the quality of those elected into power. He said that when citizens elect leaders who lack vision, integrity, and a commitment to serve, the country will continue to struggle.

He stressed that leadership plays a key role in development, peace, and progress. He added that good leaders can transform nations, while bad leaders can destroy opportunities for future generations.

Prof Lumumba also called on Africans to be more careful, responsible, and wise when choosing their leaders. He urged citizens to vote for leaders based on competence and honesty, not based on tribe, religion, or personal interest.

He said Africa’s future can be bright if the right leaders are elected and if citizens hold them accountable.

He expressed hope that Africans would rise, make better choices, and work together to build a stronger, more prosperous continent.
