The United States has imposed sanctions on 15 entities and 14 shadow fleet vessels connected to the illicit trade in Iranian petroleum and petrochemical products.
The US State Department announced the sanctions on Friday in a statement.
It said the targeted entities and vessels played key roles in transporting and facilitating illegal Iranian oil shipments.
The department described the network as part of Iran’s efforts to evade existing sanctions.
US officials said the trade generated revenue used to fund destabilising activities in the Middle East.
The sanctions block access to US assets and restrict dealings with American individuals and companies.

The State Department said the action reinforces Washington’s commitment to enforcing sanctions on Iran’s energy sector.
It warned that companies and vessels involved in sanctions evasion would face accountability.
The United States said it would continue working with international partners to disrupt illicit oil networks.
Officials urged global shipping and energy stakeholders to conduct strict due diligence.
The sanctions take effect immediately, according to the statement.
