The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has ordered the immediate deployment of tactical, operational, and intelligence teams to Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State following a deadly attack.
The attack occurred on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, prompting swift security action by the Nigeria Police Force.
In a statement, the Inspector-General condemned the violence and described the incident as unacceptable and criminal.
He expressed condolences to the families of the victims and sympathised with the people and government of Kwara State.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to the protection of lives and property, and perpetrators will be brought to justice,” Egbetokun said.
Egbetokun reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to the protection of lives and property across the country.

Following the directive, police authorities reinforced security presence in Kaiama and surrounding communities.
The deployment aims to restore calm, deter further attacks, and reassure residents of sustained security operations.
Meanwhile, the Police have launched a full-scale manhunt to identify, track, and arrest those responsible for the attack.
The Inspector-General directed all deployed units to work with precision, intelligence, and urgency to bring perpetrators to justice.
He warned that the Force would not tolerate acts of violence or threats to public safety in any part of the country.
Residents of Kaiama and neighbouring areas have been urged to remain calm and vigilant.
The Police also called on members of the public to cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information.
Such information can be reported through the nearest police stations or approved communication channels.
Authorities say community cooperation remains critical to the success of ongoing security operations.
The Nigeria Police Force assured citizens that updates would be provided as investigations and operations continue.
