Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has officially parted ways with Chippa United, ending his four-year spell at the South African club.

The club confirmed the development in a statement issued on Thursday, revealing that the Nigerian international had submitted a transfer request asking to leave.

“Chippa United Football Club has agreed to grant Stanley Nwabali his release and wishes him success in the next chapter of his career,” the statement said.

Nwabali, 29, only signed a three-year contract extension in 2024, but both parties have now mutually agreed to terminate the deal.

The club praised the goalkeeper for his professionalism and commitment during his time in Gqeberha, noting that his contributions would be fondly remembered.

“We would like to sincerely thank Stanley Nwabali for the years of service, commitment, and professionalism he has shown during his time at Chippa United Football Club,” the statement added.

Nwabali joined Chippa United in 2021 and went on to establish himself as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper, earning national recognition with his consistent performances.

His rise culminated in his emergence as Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper, playing a key role in the Super Eagles’ run to the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where he impressed with a series of assured displays.

With his contract termination now confirmed, attention is expected to turn to the goalkeeper’s next destination, as clubs across Africa and beyond monitor his availability.
