The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has recorded 3,200 confirmed Ebola cases and 1,405 deaths as health authorities intensify efforts to contain the outbreak.
The latest situation report shows that 571 patients have recovered. Another 773 patients remain in isolation and are receiving medical care.
Data covering up to Saturday, July 25, 2026, shows that health officials recorded 125 new infections and 51 deaths in the previous 24 hours.Ituri Province remains the hardest-hit area, accounting for 89 per cent of all confirmed Ebola cases in the country.
Health officials blamed the continued spread of the virus on population movement, insecurity, artisanal mining, and cross-border travel involving Uganda and South Sudan.
Authorities are strengthening surveillance, contact tracing, and emergency response measures to curb transmission and prevent further infections.The outbreak continues to spread across affected communities, with health officials reporting sustained virus transmission.
The growing number of infections is also putting pressure on healthcare facilities. In North Kivu Province, treatment centres are caring for 171 patients despite having only 141 beds.Across the country, Ebola treatment centres now operate at an average bed occupancy rate of 82.1 per cent.
The figures highlight the increasing burden on the healthcare system, the DRC declared the current outbreak on May 15 after detecting the Bundibugyo strain of the Ebola virus. Since then, the disease has spread from Ituri Province to five provinces, raising concerns about wider transmission.
