Fatima Ahmed, widely known as Zara Unscripted, has called on parents to treat children with special needs with greater dignity, patience, and respect, stressing that society must shift its mindset from stigma to support.
She made the statement while appearing as a guest on Spotlight on S24 Television Abuja, where she shared her personal journey as a mother of two children with special needs. She described the experience as challenging, but emphasized that it has also strengthened her commitment to advocacy and care.
According to her, raising children with special needs comes with emotional, financial, and social pressures, but she insists that these children must not be sidelined or treated as less important. She noted that despite the difficulties, she continues to “care for and stand by” her children without regret.
Zara Unscripted also raised concerns about weak policy implementation affecting children with special needs. She explained that in many cases, inadequate systems and lack of support cause such children to drop out of care, education, or social inclusion structures, leaving families to struggle alone.
Beyond her personal experience, she highlighted her humanitarian work across different communities, saying she has supported children and vulnerable persons in areas including Biskina Fada, Mali, and other parts of the world. She stated that her interventions have reached an estimated 40 to 3oo beneficiaries so far.
She described her mission as bridging critical gaps in healthcare, nutrition, and education, particularly for underprivileged and special needs communities. Zara Unscripted added that her life experiences have shaped her into an advocate determined to ensure that vulnerable groups receive better attention and opportunities.
