Young Ghanaian Lawyer Dies During World Cup Celebrations

The excitement of Ghana’s victory over Panama at the 2026 FIFA World Cup ended in tragedy when a young lawyer collapsed during celebrations.

Sara Araba Tettey, 26, had recently qualified as a lawyer. She graduated from the Faculty of Law at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). Friends and colleagues described her as intelligent, hardworking, and full of promise.

Reports said Sara watched the match with friends as Ghana secured a memorable victory over Panama. Moments after the final whistle, she suddenly became unresponsive.

According to Ghanaian news outlet, Citi Newsroom, the incident occurred on Wednesday at Standard Hostel, a private hostel in Bomso near the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

Her friends quickly took her to the University Hospital for an emergency treatment. Medical personnel immediately began resuscitation efforts. They performed Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation CPR for about 45 minutes in an attempt to save her life.

Despite their efforts to revive her, She was later confirmed dead by medical doctors at the hospital.

Sara had recently been called to the Ghana Bar. She worked with O & A Legal Consult, where colleagues valued her professionalism and commitment to her work.

News of her death shocked many people across Ghana. Members of the legal community paid tribute to her dedication and bright future. Friends and loved ones also shared heartfelt messages in her memory.

Many Ghanaians expressed their grief on social media. They described the incident as a painful reminder of how quickly life can change.

Ghana’s victory over Panama brought joy to football fans across the country. However, Sara’s sudden death has cast a shadow over the celebrations. Family, friends, and colleagues now mourn the loss of a young lawyer whose career had only just begun.
