Afrobeats superstar Wizkid brought Afro Nation Portugal 2026 to a memorable close with an energetic performance that captivated thousands of fans at Praia da Rocha beach in Portimão.

The sixth edition of the festival ran from July 3 to July 5 and featured performances from some of the biggest names in global music, including Asake, Tyla, and Gunna, however, Wizkid stole the spotlight with a headline performance on the Lit Stage.

The Grammy winning singer thrilled the audience with a selection of fan favourites, including Essence, Ojuelegba, and Alaye. Throughout the set, he showcased crisp vocals, effortless stage control, and a commanding presence that kept fans engaged from start to finish.

Concertgoers sang along to every lyric and illuminated the venue with phone lights, creating a vibrant atmosphere that reflected the festival’s growing international appeal.

Beyond the music, many fans also praised Wizkid’s appearance, noting his visibly healthier and more muscular physique. Several social media users described the performance as one of his best in recent years.

Prominent personalities, including football star Asisat Oshoala and American singer Kehlani, also reacted positively to the performance online, commending his energy and confidence on stage.

One social media critic even issued a public apology after previously doubting Wizkid’s live abilities, admitting that the Afro Nation set ranked among the best performances he had witnessed.

The performance came amid Wizkid’s continued dominance on streaming platforms. The singer currently leads Spotify’s African streaming chart with an average of 15.9 million daily streams, further highlighting his influence on the global music landscape.

As Afrobeats continues to expand its reach worldwide, Wizkid’s headline appearance at Afro Nation Portugal once again underscored the genre’s growing impact and its ability to attract audiences across continents.
