Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have recorded fresh operational successes across the North West, rescuing kidnapped victims, foiling an attempted abduction, and arresting suspected terrorist logistics suppliers during separate operations in Zamfara, Katsina, and Kebbi states.
According to the military, the operations were carried out on July 19 and 20, 2026, as part of sustained efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and deny criminal groups freedom of movement across the region.
In Zamfara State, troops responded to a distress call from residents of Shiyan Abiyola in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area after terrorists attempted to abduct civilians from a residence on July 20.
The swift intervention of the troops forced the terrorists to abandon the operation and flee, leading to the successful rescue of several residents. Troops later dominated the area to prevent further attacks.
In a separate operation on July 19, troops on patrol in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State rescued three kidnapped victims who escaped from a terrorist hideout during a heavy downpour while their captors were asleep.

The military said the victims had been abducted on July 14 while working on their farms in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State. They were later handed over to the appropriate authorities for reunification with their families.
Also on July 19, troops intercepted a vehicle transporting 10 motorcycles suspected to be destined for terrorist elements during a routine stop-and-search operation in Kebbi State.
Preliminary investigations led to the arrest of four additional suspects believed to have been sent to receive the motorcycles on behalf of a known terrorist collaborator.
The suspects and the recovered motorcycles remain in military custody as investigations continue to identify other members of the logistics network and determine the intended destination of the motorcycles.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA said the operations demonstrate the vigilance and professionalism of troops in disrupting terrorist logistics, preventing attacks, and protecting vulnerable communities across the North West.
The military also commended residents for providing timely and credible intelligence and urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue supporting security agencies with information that will aid ongoing operations against terrorists and other criminal elements.
