Nollywood actress Cynthia Anijekwu has appealed to Nigerians for financial assistance as she continues her fight against cancer.
The actress made the emotional appeal in a video shared online, where she revealed that she has been battling the disease for the second time.
According to Anijekwu, she was first diagnosed with cancer in 2023. She underwent surgery and chemotherapy at the time, and doctors were able to manage the condition temporarily.
However, she said the cancer later returned and her health condition became more serious.
The actress explained that recent medical checks showed that the disease had spread to her bones saying that doctors have recommended further treatment, including radiation therapy and another surgery.
Anijekwu also revealed that the cost of treatment has become difficult for her and her family to handle. She said she spends more than ₦600,000 monthly on medical care.
In her message, the actress asked Nigerians and well-wishers to support her treatment.
“I need to live. I need to survive,” she said while appealing for help.
She added that even small donations could help her continue receiving medical care.
The actress said the illness has affected her body and described the struggle as a difficult period in her life.
Following her appeal, fellow actress Destiny Etiko shared Anijekwu’s situation and encouraged Nigerians to support her colleague.
The development has drawn attention from fans and members of the entertainment industry, with many expressing support and prayers for her recovery.
Anijekwu’s story has once again highlighted the financial challenges faced by many cancer patients seeking treatment.
Her appeal comes as she continues to fight the illness and hopes to receive the medical support needed to improve her condition.
For the actress, the message remains simple: she wants a chance to continue living.
