Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, has led a delegation of senior security and government officials to Washington, D.C., for high-level security talks with the United States.
The Nigerian delegation is participating in a Nigeria-United States Joint Working Group meeting aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation on security and counterterrorism.
The discussions are focused on reviewing progress made in existing security partnerships, identifying emerging threats and exploring new areas for deeper collaboration between both countries.
Among the senior Nigerian security officials attending the meeting is the Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu.
The talks come amid ongoing efforts by Nigeria and the United States to strengthen cooperation in tackling terrorism, violent extremism and other security challenges affecting the region.
The Joint Working Group provides a platform for officials from both countries to assess current security cooperation and develop strategies for improving intelligence sharing, counterterrorism operations and broader security coordination.
The engagement is expected to further deepen the longstanding security partnership between Nigeria and the United States as both countries seek more effective responses to evolving security threats.
Ribadu’s leadership of the Nigerian delegation underscores the importance attached by the Federal Government to strengthening international partnerships in addressing Nigeria’s security challenges.
