NPFL clubs have received their share of the first payment from the league’s three-year title sponsorship agreement with Euromatch.

NPFL Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Ayo Hammed Abdulrahman, confirmed the payment during an interview with SportsPro News in Ilorin on Thursday.

Abdulrahman also corrected earlier reports about the value of the agreement. He said Euromatch will pay $7.5 million over three years, which amounts to $2.5 million each year, rather than the previously reported $1 million.

He explained that the NPFL does not distribute the full value of the agreement at once. Instead, Euromatch makes payments in tranches, and the league pays clubs their agreed percentage from each tranche it receives.

“The tranches that have been received, the percentage due to the clubs has been paid,” Abdulrahman said.

His comments mean clubs have already received their entitlement from the money Euromatch has paid so far. They will receive further payments as the sponsorship partner sends subsequent tranches to the league.

The clarification also gives clubs and other stakeholders a clearer picture of the commercial value of the partnership. At $2.5 million per year, the deal represents a substantial increase from the $1 million figure previously reported.

The three-year agreement will continue to provide sponsorship revenue to the NPFL, with the league expected to distribute each incoming tranche according to its existing revenue-sharing arrangement with the clubs.
