Mohamed Salah has agreed a two-year deal with Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor after leaving Liverpool as a free agent, opening a new chapter in his glittering career.

After weeks of speculation, Trabzonspor confirmed the agreement with the Egyptian forward, while hundreds of supporters welcomed Salah at Istanbul Airport shortly afterwards, gathering in the club’s colours to celebrate the arrival of one of Africa’s greatest footballers.

Meanwhile, Salah leaves Liverpool after a remarkable nine-year spell at Anfield, during which he won two Premier League titles, the UEFA Champions League and several other major trophies, while scoring more than 250 goals to cement his place among Liverpool’s greatest players and the Premier League’s all-time stars.

Although several clubs showed interest in signing Salah, including teams in Saudi Arabia, Major League Soccer and fellow Turkish side Beşiktaş, Trabzonspor ultimately won the race for his signature after moving quickly to complete the deal.

Looking ahead, the Black Sea club will compete in the UEFA Europa League after finishing third in last season’s Turkish Super Lig, and club officials believe Salah’s experience, leadership and goals can strengthen their domestic title challenge while boosting their chances in Europe.

Finally, Trabzonspor will officially unveil Salah after he completes his medical and signs the necessary documents, with the move expected to rank among the biggest transfers in Turkish football and another major milestone in the career of one of the game’s most celebrated forwards.
