Liverpool Complete £60m Signing of French Defender Jeremy Jacquet

Liverpool have completed the signing of French defender Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes in a deal worth up to £60 million ($79 million).

The 20-year-old France Under-21 international has signed a five-year contract at Anfield. Liverpool also have the option to extend the deal by another year. The club agreed the transfer in January, and the move is now complete after the required international clearance.

Jacquet will join Liverpool for the start of pre-season. He missed the final part of last season after suffering a shoulder injury in February. He has now recovered and is ready to begin training with his new teammates.

The young defender said he was excited to begin a new chapter with the Premier League club.

“I feel really good. My first impressions are very positive, and I am happy to start here,” Jacquet told Liverpool’s official website. “It is a big dream for me.”

Jacquet came through Rennes’ youth academy and developed into one of the club’s top young defenders. He made 33 senior appearances for the Ligue 1 side before earning his move to Liverpool.

He also spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Clermont. The spell gave him valuable first-team experience and helped him continue his development.

Liverpool believe Jacquet will strengthen their defense ahead of the new season. The club hopes the young center-back will play an important role as they compete for trophies in England and Europe.
