A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State, Engr. Aliyu Mohammed, popularly known as Kombat, has declared his support for the party’s 2027 governorship candidate, Dr. Jamilu Isiyaku Gwamna, describing him as the right choice to sustain the state’s development.
Mohammed made the declaration during a meeting with his supporters in Gombe, where he formally collapsed his political structure into Gwamna’s campaign ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The APC stalwart, who is the founder of the Velocity Humanitarian Foundation and Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of Velocity Nigeria Limited, said his decision followed extensive consultations with members of his foundation, political associates, and community leaders.
“After carefully assessing the political landscape and Dr. Gwamna’s agenda, I became convinced that supporting the APC candidate is the best path for the continued development of Gombe State,” Mohammed said.
He also credited Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s administration with strengthening the APC’s position ahead of the elections, noting that the governor’s achievements have made the party’s campaign easier.
“What Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has done for Gombe State is visible to everyone. Even those who are not from Gombe can see the transformation,” he said.
“Because of these achievements, we believe the APC is in a very strong position going into the election.”
Mohammed urged APC members to remain united and work collectively to secure victory for the party at all levels in the 2027 general elections.
“I want to call on all APC members to come together, support our candidate, and work for the progress of our party and the continued development of Gombe State,” he added.
Responding, the APC governorship candidate, Dr. Jamilu Gwamna, commended Mohammed for his commitment to youth development and described him as a grassroots mobiliser whose support would strengthen the party’s campaign.
“We appreciate his doggedness in bringing everyone together and for making the youth of our state his priority. Whoever abandons the youth abandons the future of that society. In Kombat, we have found someone who believes in the future of Gombe,” Gwamna said.
The APC flag bearer pledged that, if elected governor in 2027, his administration would prioritise youth and women empowerment through job creation, entrepreneurship support, skills acquisition programmes, and policies designed to stimulate economic growth.
He also called on party members to remain united in ensuring the APC records victory in all elective positions.
“I want to use this opportunity to ask for your support to ensure that we deliver the APC from top to bottom. By the grace of Allah, we will deliver President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our senators, members of the House of Representatives, members of the State House of Assembly, and, by the will of Allah, we shall also secure victory in the governorship election,” Gwamna stated.
As part of efforts to strengthen the campaign structure, Gwamna announced Mohammed’s appointment as one of the APC’s frontline campaign coordinators.
“From today, Engr. Aliyu Kombat is the commander of this struggle. I have confidence in his capacity to mobilise our people and deliver victory for the APC. Insha Allah, he will succeed,” he said.
Also speaking, the member representing Yamaltu/Deba Federal Constituency, Hon. Inuwa Garba, described the endorsement as a significant boost to the APC’s unity and electoral chances in Gombe State.
He commended Mohammed for placing the interest of the party above personal ambition and urged members to remain committed to securing victory for all APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Kombat Humanitarian Foundation, Hon. Abubakar Danzaria, praised Mohammed’s humanitarian interventions across Gombe State, saying his initiatives had improved the lives of vulnerable communities and demonstrated his commitment to public service.
Other party stakeholders, including Hon. Bashir Santuraki, Hajiya Lailatu Deba, and Mr. Tanko Ishiyaku, also pledged to mobilise support from their respective communities to ensure overwhelming victory for the APC in the 2027 general elections.
