Emeka Rollas Apologises Over Controversial Remarks

Former Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) President Emeka Rollas has apologised to Senator Ned Nwoko, his wife Regina Daniels and her mother, Rita Daniels, over controversial remarks he made during a dispute involving the guild.

Rollas also apologised to members of the AGN Board of Trustees and several colleagues whose names he mentioned during the controversy.

The former AGN president said he had reflected on the matter and regretted how and when he addressed the issues.

He said he still believed in the concerns he raised at the time. However, he admitted that he could have handled the situation differently.

“These were people I had related with, worked with and, in some cases, considered friends,” he said.

Rollas added that he made the remarks while the family faced a difficult personal situation.

“More importantly, I made those statements at a time when a family was going through a deeply personal and difficult period. I should not have taken that path,” he said.

A recent meeting with Rita Daniels also prompted Rollas to reflect on the dispute.

He said some people tried to make peace between them during the encounter. The meeting, he added, gave him another chance to consider the impact of his words.

Rollas also apologised to Okey Bakassi, Charles Inojie, Chinyere Wilfred, Jide Kosoko, Sanni Danji, Agility and Nazareth Jesse.

He extended the apology to his former aides and other colleagues he mentioned during the dispute.

The controversy dates back to a statement Rollas issued on November 20, 2025.

At the time, he addressed issues involving the guild’s leadership, finances and transition process.

The dispute also involved a N200 million pledge from Ned Nwoko at the opening of the AGN office in Abuja.

Nwoko made the pledge during the launch of the guild’s multipurpose Super App.

He said the money would support a talent hunt programme for young Nigerian creatives.

The donation later became part of a wider dispute over Nwoko’s relationship with the guild and his support for the organisation.

In his earlier statement, Rollas addressed claims that Nwoko had donated N200 million to AGN.

He said Nwoko should have clarified that the money went to Regina Daniels for her film production, rather than to the guild.

Rollas also defended his administration and its record during his eight years as AGN president.

He said he would resist any attempt to stop the guild’s transition process.

During the dispute, Rollas criticised some members of the AGN Board of Trustees and called some individuals “enemies of AGN.”

In his latest statement, he said his encounter with Rita Daniels made him reconsider the dispute and the effect his words had on those involved.
