APC Sets Presidential Form at ₦100m

In Preparation for the 2027 general elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has fixed May 16 and May 23, 2026, for its presidential and governorship primaries.

On Monday, APC spokesperson Felix Morka announced the schedule, while the party’s National Organizing Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, signed the timetable.

Meanwhile, the APC also set high fees for aspirants, Presidential hopefuls will pay ₦100 million for forms, in the same vein, governorship aspirants will pay ₦50 million.

Senate aspirants will pay ₦20 million, while House of Representatives aspirants will pay ₦10 million. In addition, State Assembly aspirants will pay ₦6 million.

At the same time, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released its election timetable. It fixed January 16, 2027, for presidential and National Assembly elections. Subsequently, governorship and State Assembly elections will hold on February 6, 2027.

INEC also directed all parties to hold primaries between April 23 and May 30, 2026. Furthermore, it set campaign timelines.

Campaigns for presidential and National Assembly elections will begin on August 19, 2026. Likewise, governorship and State Assembly campaigns will start on September 9, 2026.

Following this, the APC outlined dates for its primaries. House of Representatives primaries will take place on May 18. Next, Senate primaries will hold on May 20. Then, State Assembly primaries will follow on May 21.

Before that, the party will screen aspirants. It will screen most candidates from May 6 to May 8. Afterward, presidential aspirants will be screened on May 9. In addition, further screenings will take place on May 12 and May 13.

The party will sell forms from April 25 to May 2 in Abuja. However, all aspirants must submit their forms by May 4.

Notably, the APC has offered concessions to certain groups. Female aspirants, youths, and persons with disabilities will pay only for the expression of interest form. Moreover, they will receive a 50 percent discount on nomination fees.

Finally, Morka said the party will conduct a free and fair primary process. According to him, this will strengthen internal democracy and build trust among members.

Overall, the timetable signals the start of intense political activity as parties prepare for the 2027 elections.
