Ogun Govt Mourns Victims of Fatal Crash

The Ogun State Government has condoled with families of the victims of a fatal road accident involving heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua, which occurred on Monday along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway near Makun, Sagamu.

According to preliminary reports, two male foreign nationals lost their lives after the sport utility vehicle conveying Joshua and other occupants collided with a stationary truck on the highway.

The remains of the deceased have been deposited at the Livewell Morgue in Sagamu.

Government officials confirmed that Joshua and the vehicle’s driver sustained injuries and were immediately evacuated by security personnel attached to his convoy before being taken to a medical facility for treatment.

The damaged vehicle has been moved to the Sagamu Motor Traffic Division, while the truck involved is being secured for further investigation.

Describing the incident as “deeply unfortunate,” the Ogun State Government urged motorists to adhere strictly to traffic regulations, especially during the festive season when road traffic is heavier.

It also directed road safety and security agencies within the state to intensify enforcement and surveillance across major highways.

“Our hearts go out to the bereaved families who lost their loved ones in this tragic incident,” the statement read. “We pray for the repose of the souls of the departed and the quick recovery of the injured.”

The government reaffirmed its commitment to road safety and ongoing efforts to reduce accident fatalities across the state.
