The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced online media accreditation for journalists and media organisations intending to cover the 2026 Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council Election scheduled for Saturday, February 21, 2026.
INEC announced that interested media organisations seeking to deploy journalists for election coverage are required to apply through the Commission’s official accreditation portal at imap.inecnigeria.org.
According to the Commission, the portal will open on Monday, December 15, 2025, and close on Sunday, February 8, 2026.

INEC stressed that late submissions will not be entertained, noting that the portal will automatically shut down at 12:00 midnight on February 8, 2026, with no extension of time.
The Commission advised media organisations to complete the accreditation process within the stipulated timeframe to avoid disqualification.
