President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja on Thursday for Makkah, Saudi Arabia, to perform Umrah, an Islamic pilgrimage involving religious rites in the Holy City.
Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.
According to Onanuga, the visit will provide the President with an opportunity for spiritual reflection, devotion and prayers for Nigeria’s peace, unity, stability and continued progress.
The statement said Tinubu would perform the religious rites associated with Umrah while seeking Allah’s guidance and blessings for Nigeria and its citizens.
Before departing for Saudi Arabia, the President is also expected to commission equipment acquired by the Nigerian Air Force to support its operations.
“Before leaving Abuja, President Tinubu will commission at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport some equipment acquired by the Nigerian Air Force for its operations,” the statement read.
Onanuga added that the President is expected to return to Nigeria next week.
