La Liga president Javier Tebas says Manchester City should face the toughest possible punishment if the club is found guilty of breaching Premier League financial rules.
Reports on Friday claimed that an independent panel had ruled against City on 114 of the 115 charges brought against the club. However, the Premier League has not officially announced the panel’s findings.
There is also no confirmed decision on what punishment Manchester City could face if the reported findings are upheld.
The charges relate to alleged breaches of Premier League financial regulations. Manchester City have strongly denied all the allegations and have maintained that they will clear their name.
City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak also defended the club in a statement on Saturday. He said he remained confident that the club would eventually be vindicated.
If the reported findings are confirmed, Manchester City could face serious sanctions. Possible penalties include a major points deduction or even expulsion from the Premier League.
Other Premier League clubs are also reportedly seeking legal advice over possible compensation linked to the case.
