Veteran Nigerian entertainer Charly Boy has celebrated the engagement of his daughter, Adaeze, to a woman. The announcement has sparked mixed reactions across social media, with some users sending congratulatory messages while others criticised the union.

Charly Boy shared a video from the engagement ceremony on Instagram on Thursday. He referred to the couple as his “beautiful Princess and her Husband” and asked his followers to wish them well.

“Folks, wish dem well for me,” he wrote.

Adaeze also shared the news on her social media page. She posted a photo with her partner and announced, “WE’RE ENGAGED!”

She accompanied the post with the hashtag #MrsAndMrsGray2027. Adaeze also expressed excitement about the relationship. She described the engagement as the beginning of a lifetime filled with love, laughter, growth, and shared memories.

The announcement quickly attracted attention online. While some Nigerians celebrated the couple, others criticized the engagement.

Adaeze was previously married to Metu Anu. The couple held a traditional wedding in Abuja in February 2018. Their marriage later ended in divorce.

The engagement also adds to the Oputa family’s history of publicly navigating same-sex relationships.

Charly Boy’s other daughter, Dominique “Dewy” Oputa, is also publicly known to be in a relationship with a woman. Both daughters currently live outside Nigeria.

Charly Boy, popularly known as Area Fada, has built a decades-long career around his unconventional public persona and outspoken views on social issues.

Over the years, the entertainer has openly discussed several aspects of his personal and family life. His comments have often generated conversations among Nigerians.

His latest post has once again drawn attention to the Oputa family. Social media users continue to share different views about Adaeze’s engagement.
