The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested a popular TikTok content creator, Ukasha Yahaya, popularly known as UK International, over videos showing him engaging in physical interactions with women.
The board’s Deputy Commander General, Dr. Mujahid Aminuddeen, confirmed the arrest on Thursday, saying the 27-year-old TikToker was apprehended after intelligence indicated that he had entered Kano State.
According to Aminuddeen, Ukasha is currently in the custody of the Hisbah Board while investigations into the videos continue.
Ukasha, a native of Gusau, Zamfara State, and a resident of Abuja, reportedly admitted during interrogation that he could not remember the exact number of videos he had produced featuring women.
Some of the videos allegedly showed him dancing, hugging and carrying women, while others featured swimming and bathing scenes.
The TikToker said some of his videos had attracted between one million and three million views.
When asked how he sourced the women featured in his content, Ukasha reportedly said they approached him because of his work as a content creator.
He also said his mother and other people had repeatedly cautioned him over the nature of his content.
Asked whether he could feature his sisters in similar videos, Ukasha said his sisters were all married.
The TikToker reportedly said he was already considering abandoning such content as he prepares for marriage.
He subsequently apologised and pledged not to repeat the acts.
According to Daily Trust, Ukasha’s TikTok account, UK INTERNATIONAL, has more than 262,000 followers and has accumulated about 2.4 million likes.
Aminuddeen said the TikToker would be charged to court after the completion of investigations.
The Hisbah official also warned young people against using social media platforms such as TikTok for activities the board considers contrary to religious and moral standards.
