A backstage moment involving Nigerian music star Wizkid and popular podcaster Shopsydoo has set social media buzzing following Afro Nation Portugal.

The viral video, which surfaced on July 9, shows a shirtless Wizkid walking backstage after his July 5 performance in Portimão.

As the singer greeted members of his team and other guests, podcaster Olajide, popularly known as Shopsydoo, appeared to lean in for a hug.

However, Wizkid briefly glanced back before continuing to greet others, leaving many fans to interpret the interaction in different ways.

The conversation gained even more attention after Wizkid’s longtime collaborator, DJ Tunez, shared similar backstage footage with the caption, “GIVE ME SPACE!” Fans quickly linked the post to the viral clip, further fueling speculation online.

Responding to the growing reactions, Shopsydoo insisted there was no bad blood between him and the Grammy-winning singer. He explained that he simply wanted to congratulate Wizkid on a successful performance and approached him as an admirer rather than expecting a personal moment.

Despite the explanation, many members of Starboy FC revisited Shopsydoo’s previous comments about Wizkid. Some pointed to occasions when the podcaster left Wizkid out of his lists of top Afrobeats artists, while others referenced his criticism of the singer’s 2023 Tottenham Hotspur Stadium concert.

As a result, memes flooded social media, with some fans humorously branding Shopsydoo “Afro Judas.” Others, however, defended the podcaster, arguing that a brief backstage interaction should not be used to fuel unnecessary fan wars. Several users also called for more maturity and neutrality when discussing rivalries among Afrobeats stars.

Neither Wizkid nor his management has commented on the viral clip. Nevertheless, the incident has once again highlighted how even a few seconds of celebrity footage can ignite intense debate among fans online.
