Prof Sani Umar Urges Leaders to Put Nigeria First

Professor Muhammad Sani Umar R/Lemo has called on Islamic scholars and those engaged in preaching the message of Islam to adopt wisdom, patience, and good character in their efforts to guide people towards the path of Allah.

Prof. R/Lemo made the call during a religious gathering at Indimi Mosque, where he delivered a sermon focused on the responsibilities of those involved in Da’awah (calling people to the way of Allah).

The respected Islamic scholar emphasised that preaching is a noble responsibility that requires knowledge, sincerity, and understanding of the people being addressed.

He advised preachers to avoid harshness, unnecessary arguments, and approaches that may push people away from the teachings of Islam.

According to him, the goal of Da’awah is not only to deliver messages but also to guide people with compassion, patience, and wisdom.

Prof. R/Lemo explained that Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) demonstrated kindness and wisdom when inviting people to Islam, and those who carry the responsibility of preaching should follow that example.

He stressed that effective preaching requires understanding different circumstances, backgrounds, and challenges facing individuals and communities.

“Those who call towards Allah must do so with wisdom and good advice. The manner in which a message is delivered is as important as the message itself,” he said.

The scholar also encouraged Islamic preachers to continue increasing their knowledge, saying that a preacher must combine religious understanding with awareness of society’s realities.

He warned against using preaching as a platform for creating division or spreading hostility among Muslims and communities.

Prof. R/Lemo noted that unity, peaceful coexistence, and good manners are among the important values promoted by Islam, adding that preachers have a major role in promoting these principles.

He further urged scholars to focus on issues that strengthen faith, morality, family values, and social responsibility.

The gathering at Indimi Mosque attracted worshippers, Islamic scholars, and community members who listened to the lecture on the importance of responsible and effective Da’awah.

The call comes at a time when religious leaders continue to emphasise the need for peaceful engagement, proper understanding of Islamic teachings, and responsible communication in society.

Prof. Muhammad Sani Umar R/Lemo concluded by reminding those involved in preaching that their responsibility is to guide people towards righteousness while reflecting the mercy, patience, and wisdom that are central to Islamic teachings.
