46 illegal immigrants have been arrested by troops of the Nigerian Army, working alongside operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) in Ogun State.

The operation, which began on June 11, 2026, was launched following actionable intelligence and targeted several locations in Ijebu Imushin, Ijebu Ilese, and nearby communities.

Security sources revealed that the suspects were apprehended during coordinated raids across the affected areas. Preliminary investigations indicated that the individuals had allegedly lived in the state for about six months without valid immigration documents.

During questioning, the suspects reportedly identified themselves as merchants and workers associated with QNet, an online marketing platform involved in the sale of various products and services.

The group comprises 18 nationals of Burkina Faso, 23 from Côte d’Ivoire, four from Togo, and one from Senegal. Of the 46 suspects, 36 are male while 10 are female.

The arrested individuals have been handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service, Ogun State Command, for further investigation and necessary administrative action in line with existing immigration laws.

Reacting to the operation, the Commander of the 35 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General Friday Oguche Onu, praised the troops and collaborating security agencies for their professionalism and vigilance.

He also urged residents to remain alert and promptly report suspicious movements, activities, or individuals to relevant authorities.

The operation, according to military authorities, reflects the continued commitment of security agencies to tackling illegal migration, strengthening internal security, and protecting Nigeria’s national interests.
