The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has congratulated Ifeanyi Okowa, Senator Ede Dafinone and Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas after their victories in the party’s senatorial primaries. Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, described the exercise as peaceful and transparent saying that the primaries reflected the choice of party members across the state. Keyamo said the APC conducted one of its most credible primary elections in Delta State. He praised party members for maintaining order during the exercise.

According to him, the victories of Okowa in Delta North, Dafinone in Delta Central and Joel-Onowakpo in Delta South showed the strength of the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.

He also urged candidates who lost in the primaries to support the party and work together for future success.

Several APC leaders welcomed the outcome of the primaries. Party chieftain Olorogun O’tega Emerhor congratulated the winners and applauded members for a smooth process.

Political observers believe the successful conduct of the primaries has boosted confidence within the Delta APC.

Okowa’s emergence has attracted attention because of his recent move from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC. He previously served as governor of Delta State and was the PDP vice-presidential candidate in 2023.

Dafinone and Joel-Onowakpo also retained strong support in their senatorial districts after winning their contests.

With the primaries concluded, the APC is expected to begin preparations for the 2027 general elections in Delta State.
