Atletico Secure Top-Four Finish as Betis Reach Champions League

Atlético Madrid strengthened their grip on fourth place in LaLiga after a hard-fought 2-1 win over Osasuna on Tuesday night.

Ademola Lookman gave Atletico the lead in the 15th minute from the penalty spot after Javi Galan handled the ball inside the box. Alexander Sørloth doubled the advantage late in the second half with a close-range header past goalkeeper Aitor Fernandez.

The Madrid side were reduced to 10 men after Marcos Llorente received a red card for two reckless fouls. Osasuna pulled one back in stoppage time through Kike Barja, but Atletico held on to secure all three points.

The result leaves Atletico on 66 points behind champions Barcelona, Real Madrid and Villarreal CF.

Elsewhere, Real Betis confirmed their place in next season’s Champions League with a 2-1 victory over Elche CF.

At the bottom of the table, Levante UD boosted their survival hopes with a dramatic 3-2 comeback win against RC Celta de Vigo, moving out of the relegation zone in a tense battle for safety.
