Former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Pantami, has revealed that persistent calls from grassroots supporters and key stakeholders convinced him to consider contesting for the governorship seat in Gombe State.

Prof. Pantami made the disclosure while speaking as a guest on Trust TV, where he explained that the agitation for his governorship ambition did not originate from him personally.

According to him, the push began from community members, political associates, elders, and supporters across the state who believed he was capable of leading Gombe.

“The agitations for the governorship of Gombe State did not begin with me, but from the grassroots and critical stakeholders. At the initial stage, I personally declined the calls, but colleagues, friends, elders, and community leaders continued to insist. I eventually prayed to Almighty Allah for guidance and became convinced to give it a trial,” Prof. Pantami stated.

The former minister also appealed to the people of Gombe State to give him the opportunity to govern, insisting that he possesses the competence and experience needed for the job.

Pantami said his decision was driven by consultations and prayers, adding that he remains committed to serving the people if given the mandate.

His comments have continued to generate reactions online amid ongoing political discussions ahead of the next governorship contest in Gombe State.
