Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State have endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for the 2027 general elections, signaling early political alignment within the party.
The endorsement followed the purchase of expression of interest and nomination forms for Governor Yusuf, effectively positioning him as the party’s consensus candidate for a second term in office. Read more Sanusi Bature, Three Others Released on Bail by DSS in Kano
Former APC National Chairman Abdullahi Umar Ganduje presented the forms, stating that party stakeholders had collectively agreed on Yusuf as their preferred governorship candidate.
In the same vein, party leaders unanimously adopted President Tinubu as the sole presidential candidate from Kano State, reinforcing internal support for his re-election bid.
However, the stakeholders rejected the idea of granting automatic tickets to lawmakers and other aspirants, insisting that such positions would be determined through internal democratic processes, including consensus where necessary.
The decision underscores the party’s attempt to balance endorsement politics with internal competition, as preparations for the 2027 elections begin to gather momentum across the country.
