Residents of Nyanya have raised concerns over a prolonged power outage, urging the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) and relevant authorities to act.
In a phone interview with S24 TV, resident Muhammad Hisham described the situation as unfair. He said the community has lacked reliable electricity for over three months.
Currently, households receive only three to four hours of power daily. As a result, daily activities and businesses have been disrupted.
According to Hisham, residents reported the issue to AEDC. However, the company blamed the situation on the priority given to Band A customers. This, he noted, has left Band B and C users struggling for stable power.

Meanwhile, AEDC cited challenges with the national grid and power generation. It added that the shortage is affecting supply across the country.
In response, legal practitioner Ahmad Almustapha criticized the system. He described it as unfair and called for urgent reform.
He further warned that residents may take legal action if the situation persists. He also labeled the policy as “outrageous.”
Consequently, residents are urging the federal government and power sector stakeholders to intervene. They are calling for fair electricity distribution, regardless of service band.
