Responding to the resignation, Trump said he always believed Kent was weak on security issues.

The president also stated that he did not know Kent well during his time in the administration.

Trump said he initially considered Kent a decent individual before reading the resignation statement.

According to Trump, the statement confirmed his view that Kent underestimated the security threat from Iran.

The president added that Kent’s departure from the administration was therefore a positive development.

The resignation has drawn attention to differing views within the government over the conflict involving Iran.
