Assistant Comptroller of Customs Mary‑Anne Egwunyenga has been re-elected Vice Chair of the WCO Data Model Project Team.

Egwunyenga serves in the Information and Communication Technology and Modernisation Department of the Nigeria Customs Service.

Her re-election was announced during the 74th Data Model Project Team meeting held at WCO headquarters in Brussels.

The WCO Data Model helps customs administrations harmonise trade data and improve cross-border information exchange.

After the announcement, Egwunyenga thanked members of the project team for their continued trust and support.

She said the role provides an opportunity to strengthen global data standards for secure and efficient international trade.

Egwunyenga noted that Nigeria began implementing the WCO Data Model in 2013.

She added that the customs service recently migrated to Version 4.0 using the B’Odogwu modernisation platform.

The system improves data quality, interoperability and efficiency in digital customs and cross-border trade processes.

Officials said Nigerian customs experts also participate in international missions supporting WCO Data Model implementation in several countries.

Customs Attaché Haladu Ubale said the role strengthens Nigeria’s voice in global customs automation.
