The management of Kaduna Polytechnic has launched an investigation into an incident involving the enforcement of the institution’s dress code at the College of Business and Management Studies (CBMS).

The development follows a viral video circulating on social media showing some students allegedly prevented from attending lectures by members of the Polytechnic’s Dress Code Committee.

In a press release issued on Thursday, the institution stated that the clothing worn by the affected students appeared moderate and appropriate based on what was seen in the viral video.

Management therefore noted that the students should not have been barred from attending their lectures on that basis.

The institution explained that it maintains a dress code policy aimed at promoting decency, professionalism and a conducive learning environment for students and staff.

However, management stressed that enforcement of the policy must remain within approved guidelines and should not be carried out in an extreme or arbitrary manner.

Kaduna Polytechnic said it has initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

According to the statement, the inquiry will help identify any lapses in the application of the policy and ensure appropriate measures are taken.

While reaffirming its commitment to the dress code policy, the management assured students that their right to education will not be unduly impeded.

Students with complaints were advised to report issues through official institutional channels rather than social media platforms.
