The meeting, held at Lancaster House, brought together top diplomats from member states to deliberate on key global challenges affecting countries within the Commonwealth.

The meeting also served as a preparatory platform ahead of the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), where leaders are expected to deliberate on shared priorities and strategies for advancing cooperation across the 56-member organisation.

Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, who attended the session, reaffirmed Nigeria’s support for multilateral diplomacy within the Commonwealth framework.

He emphasised the importance of collective efforts to address global economic pressures, strengthen democratic institutions, and promote peace and development across member states.

The Commonwealth meeting provided an opportunity for ministers to exchange views on major geopolitical developments and coordinate policy approaches ahead of the leaders’ summit, while reinforcing the organisation’s role as a platform for dialogue and cooperation among its diverse member countries.
